Recharge of Bore Well

Regular pumping of water from the aquifer of a bore well creates the need to replenish it by artificial recharging. A circular trench is excavated about 3-4 feet away from the head of the well. The trench is two feet wide and 5-6 feet deep. It is filled with rubble at bottom and coarse sand at the top 6 inches to 1 feet. Surface runoff from the surrounding area is diverted towards the trench. This is one of the the several methods to recharge a borewell.
